'Geography East' by Francisco Clemente from Geography Suite of 4 1992.  Soft ground etching on cream wove paper.  48cm x 45cm.

Francisco Clemente. Italian. b1952.  Son of an Italian aristocrat, born in Naples. Rose to prominence with the so-called 'neo-expressionist' movement in the Eighties in New York. Collaborated with Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat. His works are deeply sensual, often erotic. Hands emerge from genitals, or are thrust down throats. The sexual act is explored in every conceivable permutation. They are, as the art critic Robert Hughes once noted, 'heavy on the orifices'.  He is also associated with contorted self-portraits. Clemente has been compared to such painters as George Baselitz and David Salle.
