Josef Jan Michnia was born in May 1942 born in Waldbrücken/Silesia. He emigratde to the Federal Republik of Germany in 1988 where he worked as a graphic designer and illustrator. Michnia's fascination lies in the force of colors and how they interact with each other. 'Art helps me to find my own position in the present and to get a grasp on it with the look of my eyes'. Many of his works depict stylised female musicians playing musical instruments. He has exhibited extensively in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. He is represented by Gallery Giardino in Maastricht. His oils fetch upwards of Euro 1000.
